THE EMPTY SEAT

I stood by the shore,
As the sun gave up,
And the waters were still loyal.
The wind gave a flick,
As I fell back stunned,
There was a bench which saved a Royal.

I was the poorest of all, alone.
Wealth didn’t help,
And things didn’t call.
But the bench had an extra seat,
Which waited the arrival,
Of someone whom I never met at all.

I saw the sky change colours,
And those little star’s shine.
It got colder and darker and scarier,
Yet, my beloved’s face kept me kind.

Aurora had struck to my knees by now,
I could feel the droplets of the sooner rain.
In a minute the sky, cried unabashedly,
As I chased someone who never came.

I walked slowly, in the water,
As the muddy soil held my feet,
Took a dip as it rained,
And came out for myself,
There was no empty seat.

I saw two love birds,
Who smiled to their best.
They had escaped from the whole world.
I was happy that someone had found their love,
Who cared if I had lost my own!
