SHOES

Little did I know,
That mom wont wake up again.
After dad put her to sleep,
Deep inside the ground.

People all in black,
Like a fancy dress day.
But none were happy,
Maybe the dresses weren’t enough.

We walked home quietly,
And dad made dinner.
It wasn’t that delicious,
Like mom would make.

So after a long time, I asked.
As to where did mom go?
And he said, “to a land faraway,
For building a new home.”
He made me sleep that night,
As I woke up next morning.
To a box which was wrapped,
It had shoes which were shinny.

So I wore them all happily,
And fortunately, they fit right.
While dad said something,
That reverberated all my life.

“Wear these shiny little tiny shoes, my girl,
But don’t walk this earth, uptight!
Eat enough, not sorrow though,
Be a man who can love,
And a woman who can fight.”
